Four Boston University men's hockey players were suspended indefinitely yesterday for violating team rules, a school official confirmed.
The team is expected to release a statement today regarding the suspensions of senior captain Brian McGuirk, seniors Bryan Ewing and Dan McGoff and junior Brandon Yip.
School officials did not comment on the nature of the suspensions last night, and BU coach Jack Parker was unavailable for comment when The Daily Free Press learned of the disciplinary action.
In McGuirk's absence, senior forward Pete MacArthur will serve as acting captain, as he did for Saturday night's game against Boston College.
Ewing leads the team with 17 points behind six goals and 11 assists, and was named Hockey East Player of the Week on Nov. 20.
The suspensions follow a two-game weekend during which the Terriers dropped both contests to the rival Eagles. Yip scored two of the Terriers' five goals on the weekend, while McGuirk was a healthy scratch for the second game of the series - a 4-3 BU loss at Agganis Arena.
