Every river has a point where rowers must decide whether to enjoy a lull in the action or press on to faster, more challenging currents. After graduation, newly minted Boston University alumni Will Daly and Florian Mennigen chose to pursue the current.

Anyone who has ever played a sport can easily attest to the bonding that takes place among teammates. Little leaguers, big leaguers and even 40-and-older softball leaguers -- they all know how important those bonds are to winning games.

Not even 90-degree heat and muggy conditions could slow down the Boston University women's cross-country team from starting off its title defense on the right foot last Friday at the Franklin Park Invitational.

Tim Lipsky, Boston University's first-year men's tennis coach, is still trying to learn about his team in what has been a hectic first week and a half on campus.
